What "ADE-approved" means

The LEARNS Act calls the businesses that can accept EFA funds "participating service providers"; the Arkansas Department of Education’s working term is "educational service provider," listed among its EFA Service Providers and Vendors. To be approved, a provider applies through ADE, documents the qualifications required for its category, and completes background checks and fingerprinting. Approval is what makes a provider payable with EFA funds inside ClassWallet.

The tutor credential rule — and how we exceed it

ADE’s service-provider guidance says a tutor qualifies through any one of the following: an Arkansas teaching license (or an ADE-recognized alternative route); meeting the requirements of an accredited tutoring organization; teaching at an accredited higher-education institution; a bachelor’s or graduate degree in the subject tutored; three or more years of teaching experience with special skills; or evidence of subject-matter expertise. All tutors also pass background checks and fingerprinting.

Our tutors are certified in special education. That is a higher bar than any single route above requires — families working with us get certified special education tutors, not generalists who merely cleared the minimum.

How Direct Pay invoicing works

Direct Pay is the ClassWallet route built for services like tutoring, and it is the one we lead with because your family never fronts money:

1. We send you an invoice containing the four elements ADE expects: our vendor name, a description of the services with dates, itemized prices, and your student’s name.
2. You upload the invoice in the Direct Pay section of ClassWallet.
3. Once the request is approved, payment goes straight from your child’s EFA funds to us. Nothing comes out of your pocket.

Every EFA purchase must be "ordinary and necessary" for your child’s education; if you ever want certainty before a purchase, ADE offers pre-approval by email at ade.efa@ade.arkansas.gov.

Reimbursement as the fallback

If a family pays out of pocket first, ClassWallet reimbursement is available: upload the receipt, and ADE’s stated review target is 10-15 business days, with the deposit following after approval. It works, but it means fronting the money and waiting. Direct Pay through an approved provider is the simpler path for ongoing tutoring.
